C5. Design Thinking to Meet the P&L Innovation Challenge
How employees access and use learning is changing dramatically as digital technology continues to transform business. How can the Learning and Development function meet this challenge with innovative programs and services?
Design thinking has emerged as a preferred approach to product and service innovation. The same approach can be used for innovation in learning and development. This session will present a strategy for shifting to a human-centred design approach by leveraging the principles and techniques of design thinking. Learning leaders, analysts, and learning experience designers will all find relevant application to their work.
Participants will learn the basics of Design Thinking as they experience key stages of Discovery, Ideation, Prototyping and Testing through an application to a real-world P&L innovation challenge.

- Recognize the importance of human-centred design in addressing L&D innovation challenges
- Define the purpose and stages of the Design Thinking process
- Apply the design thinking process to a learning innovation challenge
