D2. From Instructional Design to Experience Design: A design-thinking approach to engaging instruction.
Design Thinking begins from deep empathy and understanding of needs and motivations of people – in the case of training development, to discover the most effective and engaging ways to develop your workforce. Tapping into staff behaviours in and outside of work can provide insight and inspiration about the ways that people might engage with information and interact with instructional materials. It is a collaborative approach that benefits greatly from the views of multiple perspectives, and where creativity can flourish. It is an enjoyable and optimistic approach to creating change —no matter how big a problem, how little time or how small a budget.
This hands-on interactive session is an invitation to experiment with design processes, make and test prototypes and gather insight and feedback within a collaborative group.
