REGISTRATION

What's the easiest way to register for the conference?

The easiest way to register for the conference is to do it online. Choose your sessions and add in any additional information through the process.

When should I register?

Register right away! The Conference early bird rate ends on June 30th.

When is the last day I can register?

The last day to register online is Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Do I have to pre-register for the sessions?

No you don’t. However, if you do pre-register online, you are guaranteed a seat in your chosen session. If we are in a sell-out session, only attendees who have pre-registered for the session will be permitted to attend.

Can I walk in and sign up for the conference?

Yes you can! However, if you pre-register online, you are guaranteed a seat in your chosen session. If we are in a sell-out session, only attendees who have pre-registered for the session will be permitted to attend.

Can I just register for the Trade Show?

Definitely. Anyone wishing to attend the trade show can register online through the Conference website. It’s free!

Where do I pick up my badge?

You can pick up your badge at the onsite registration desk located on level 100 of the MTCC-North Building. The onsite registration desk opens at 8 AM on Monday, November 6.

Do you allow badge sharing?

No. At the onsite registration desk we will print the badge of the person who is in our registration system only. We will not hold on to badges for someone else to pick up on another day. We will not re-print any badges without charging a non-refundable replacement fee (applies to all lost, misplaced, stolen, and forgotten badge requests).

I can no longer attend, but my colleague can. Can my colleague go in my place?

Substitutions for paid registrants may be made at any time with written notice and must include all pertinent changes for the substituting attendee. If you realize you cannot attend prior to October 6, the information in your online registration can be updated to the information of the colleague taking your place. If you realize you cannot attend after November 2, your colleague can still attend but will have to pick up your badge and use that for the duration of the conference. Should a refund for the registration fee be required to the original attendee’s credit card, then all required credit card information for substituting attendee must be provided in order for the new transaction to be processed at the same time. No payment changes will be accepted at a later date.

Something has come up and I need to cancel. How do I do this?

You can email conference@performanceandlearning.ca and we can cancel your registration. Please make note of the cancellation policy.

PROGRAM

Are the sessions being recorded?

The sessions will be recorded (screen capture and audio) and are included in your pass.

Will I receive the presentations and handouts from the sessions?

Yes you will. They will be available on the conference mobile app as well as on designated webpage which you will have access to.

Will there be an evaluation for each session?

Yes there will. You can complete an evaluation for each session on the conference mobile app as well as complete the full conference evaluation which you will receive when the conference ends.

Where are the keynote sessions?

The keynote sessions will be next to the trade show floor, located on level 1 of the MTCC – North Building.

TRADE SHOW

Can I attend the Trade Show if I'm not registered Conference?

Absolutely. It is best that you register online for the Trade Show prior to attending. You will need a badge to enter, so to save yourself some time, register online in advance.

AWARDS DINNER

What is the Awards Dinner?

The Awards Dinner is a true celebration of excellence in organizational learning.Tickets are available, so invite your spouse, colleagues and team to join the festivities.


Who else is getting an award?

The winners of the Awards of Excellence and Volunteer Recognition awards are announced at the dinner.

Where is the Awards Dinner?

The Awards Dinner will be held in room 105 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre at 255 Front Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V 2W6.

What is the dress code?

Business casual.

Do I receive a certificate for attending the conference?

You do not receive a certificate for attending the conference. You may use your registration confirmation as proof of attendance.

How many CEU's do you get towards your certification maintenance by attending the conference?

You can count 14 CEU’s towards your certification maintenance by attending the full conference.

Can I volunteer at the conference?

There are some volunteer opportunities for the conference. More information will be available at the end of June. *Please note, you must be a member of I4PL to volunteer at the Conference.

Are there still speaking spots available at the Conference?

Speaker proposals are now closed.

Can I still purchase a booth in the trade show?

You can! Sponsor and exhibitor opportunities are still available. Please contact conference@performanceandlearning.ca for more information.

LOCATION

Where is the conference taking place?

The Conference will be at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) – North Building, 255 Front Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V 2W6. You will find the main entrance to the building on Front Street, but you can also access the North Building from the Skywalk, a glass-enclosed walkway from Union Station to the East of the Convention Centre.

I am an international participant, what do I need to get into Canada?

Fill out the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Please note that we cannot guarantee you will get a VISA.We will not reimburse any application fees.

I am flying in to Toronto, what are my transportation options?

There are a few different ways you can get from Pearson International to the Conference/Union station as well as Billy Bishop Island Airport. Below are some different options outlined with travel time and cost highlighted.

From Toronto Pearson International Airport
The Union Pearson Express:
UP Express departs from both Union Station and Toronto Pearson International Airport every 15 minutes. Your journey takes just 25 minutes; it’s the swiftest and most reliable way to travel. (Cost range: $6-$12 one way)

TTC – Toronto Transit Commission:
The TTC can get you to and from Union Station to Toronto Pearson International. Your journey will take approximately 1 hour. (Cost: $3.25 one way)

TTC directions from Terminal 1
• Go outside to bus stop at GROUND LEVEL COLUMN R4. You are looking for bus NORTH – 192 ROCKET towards PEARSON AIRPORT (Stay on the same bus when it arrives at Terminal 3). This bus will take you to KIPLING STATION
• Once at KIPLING STATION get on the BLOOR-DANFORTH (LINE 2) SUBWAY EASTBOUND PLATFORM heading east.
• Exit at the ST GEORGE STATION stop – EASTBOUND PLATFORM
• Transfer to the YONGE-UNIVERSITY (LINE 1) to ST GEORGE STATION – SOUTHBOUND PLATFORM
• Exit at UNION STATION – NORTHBOUND PLATFORM

TTC directions from Terminal 3
• Go outside to bus stop at ARRIVALS LEVEL COLUMNS C8-C12. You are looking for Bus SOUTH – 192 ROCKET towards KIPLING STATION.
• Once at KIPLING STATION get on the BLOOR-DANFORTH (LINE 2) SUBWAY EASTBOUND PLATFORM heading east.
• Exit at the ST GEORGE STATION stop – EASTBOUND PLATFORM
• Transfer to the YONGE-UNIVERSITY (LINE 1) to ST GEORGE STATION – SOUTHBOUND PLATFORM
• Exit at UNION STATION – NORTHBOUND PLATFORM

Taxi
Taxis are available outside of both airport terminals 1 & 3. The average cost from the airport to downtown is $55.00-$65.00. For taxi transportation from downtown back to Pearson you can pre-arrange a taxi by calling Beck Taxi at 416.751.5555.

Driving to/from Toronto Pearson International Airport

To the MTCC-North Building from Toronto Pearson Airport
• Take Highway 401 East to Highway 427 South
• Follow Highway 427 South to the Gardiner Expressway
• For the North Building exit at Spadina Avenue
• Proceed north on Spadina Avenue and turn right on Front St.
• Turn right on Simcoe St. then turn right into the garage
• For the South Building exit at York St.
• Proceed north two lights to Bremner Blvd.
• Turn left on Bremner Blvd.
• Turn left on Lower Simcoe St. then turn right into the garage

To Toronto Pearson Airport from the MTCC-North Building
• Head east on Front St W
• Turn right onto York St
• Turn right onto the Gardiner Expressway W ramp
• Continue on Gardiner Expy West to your destination in Mississauga – Merge onto Gardiner Expy West
• Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 139 for ON-427/Brown’s Line/Sherway Gardens Road toward ON 401
• Keep right, follow signs for ON-427/ON-401/Airport – Continue onto ON-427 N
• Keep left to stay on ON-427 N, follow signs for Ontario 427/ON-401 W
• Keep right to stay on ON-427 N, follow signs for Ontario 427 N
• Use the right 2 lanes to take the Dixon Road exit
• Keep left – Toronto Pearson International Airport

From Billy Bishop Toronto Island City Centre Airport

Complimentary Shuttle Bus
The shuttle pick up at Billy Bishop Airport is just outside the door. It is complimentary and it will drop you off on the south side of Front St., just past the southwest corner of York and Front streets. When heading back to Billy Bishop Airport, you can catch the shuttle at the same drop-off spot; south side of Front St., just past the southwest corner of York and Front streets. The designated stop is located near Starbucks. The airport shuttle offers comfortable and complimentary service between downtown and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, approximately every 15 minutes. Times may vary due to traffic and road conditions.

TTC – Toronto Transit Commission
Billy Bishop is located at the base of Bathurst Street and is easily accessible by streetcar. You can take the 511 streetcar via Bathurst subway station and the 509 streetcar via Union Station. Visit the TTC – Toronto Transit Commission website to map your journey.
Taxi
There are tons of taxis available right outside the entrance to the Billy Bishop Airport. When heading back for your return flight, you can call Beck taxi at 426.751.555 to take you. Cost is approximately $15.00.

To the MTCC-North Building from Toronto Billy Bishop Airport
• Head northeast on Bathurst St toward Eireann Quay
• Bathurst St turns slightly left and becomes Eireann Quay
• Eireann Quay turns slightly left and becomes Bathurst St
• Turn right onto Lake Shore Blvd W
• Turn left onto Lower Simcoe St
• Continue onto Simcoe St
• Turn left onto Front St W
• Destination will be on the left
To Billy Bishop Airport from the MTCC-North Building
• Head east on Front St W
• Turn right onto Simcoe St
• Continue onto Lower Simcoe St
• Turn right onto Lake Shore Blvd W
• Turn left onto Bathurst St
• Slight right onto Eireann Quay
• Eireann Quay turns slightly right and becomes Bathurst St
• Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

I am local to Ontario, how do I get to the Conference venue?

TTC – Toronto Transit Commission
Subway System

Yonge-University-Spadina Line: Exit at Union station and proceed west on Front Street to the North Building, where you can access the Skywalk to enter the South Building. Or exit to Union train station and follow the Skywalk to either the North or South Building.
Bloor-Danthforth Line: When travelling west or east, you will need to transfer to the Yonge-University-Spadina Subway Line at either Bloor-Yonge Station, St. George Station or Spadina Station. Then continue until you reach Union Station and exit the subway. From Union station you can proceed west on Front Street to the North Building, where you can access the Skywalk to enter the South Building. Or exit to Union train station and follow the Skywalk to either the North or South Building.
Scarborough RT Line: Travel west to Kennedy Station. From Kennedy Station transfer to the Bloor-Yonge Line. Continue on the Bloor-Yonge Line until your reach Union Station and exit the subway. From Union station you can proceed west on Front Street to the North Building, where you can access the Skywalk to enter the South Building. Or exit to Union train station and follow the Skywalk to either the North or South Building.
Sheppard Line: Travel west to the Sheppard-Yonge Station and transfer to the Yonge-University Spadina Line. Travel south until you reach Union Station and exit the subway. From Union station you can proceed west on Front Street to the North Building, where you can access the Skywalk to enter the South Building. Or exit to Union train station and follow the Skywalk to either the North or South Building.

GO Transit System
From Union station you can proceed west on Front Street to the North Building, where you can access the Skywalk to enter the South Building. Or exit to Union train station and follow the Skywalk to either the North or South Building. Please visit GO Transit for information Train and Bus Routes in your area.

Driving to the MTCC North Building

Driving to MTCC – North Building from 401 East
• Take Highway 401 West to the Don Valley Parkway South
• Follow the Don Valley Parkway South to the Gardiner Expressway
• For the North Building exit at Spadina Avenue
• Proceed north on Spadina Avenue and turn right at Front Street
• Turn right on Simcoe St. then turn right into the garage
• For the South Building exit at the Yonge/York exit
• As you exit the ramp continue west along Lakeshore Blvd. to Lower Simcoe St.
• Turn right at Lower Simcoe St. then turn left into the garage

Driving to MTCC – North Building from 401 West
• Take Highway 401 East to Highway 427 South
• Follow Highway 427 South to the Gardiner Expressway
• For the North Building exit at Spadina Avenue
• Proceed north on Spadina Avenue and turn right on Front St.
• Turn right on Simcoe St. then turn right into the garage

• Take Highway 400 South to Highway 401 West
• Follow Highway 401 West to Highway 427 South

• Turn right on Simcoe St. then turn right into garage

What hotel should I stay at?

A special room rate has been negotiated with the InterContinental Toronto Hotel ($264 CAD per night), adjacent to the MTCC.

Are meals included? What about coffee & tea?

Lunch will be provided you’re invited to our Awards Dinner on November 6 (included in your conference pass). Enjoy refreshments during our breaks and drop by the trade show reception on November 6. There will also be food vendors set up in the trade show if you wish to purchase coffee, tea or snacks as well as Second Cup in the MTCC.

I have some dietary restrictions, what do I do?

Please indicate your dietary restrictions during the registration process and we will be in contact prior to the conference to discuss meal options for you.

What discounts are available?

The early bird pricing ends on June 30.
If you register in a group of 4+, get a fifth pass free for a member of your team. Contact us for more details.

Do we have to pay by a certain date to receive the discounts?

In order to receive a discount, payment must be made the same day, or before the discount period is over. Payment must be received by October 20, 2017.
